New Sussex Opera: Love & Death At The Opera

Love & Death At The Opera

For many people love is both life and death; it means tolerating everything for her/his love, suffering and going to Heaven, burning ourselves in the inner fire that lasts for life and never decreases. This is written, painted and sculptured  by artists, this is what they try to express through their poems and music. Confronted with such heights of love, we might secretly ask ourselves: was I ever really in love, did I find the one who was meant for me?

Operas beautifully express all forms and stations of the hottest love a human being can feel. In arias about love, passion achieves an extraordinary density owing to the miracle of music. A lone tune on the flute or violin, an accord by the harp or a song that fades away makes us understand everything at once.

The New Sussex Opera brings us a selection of arias and operatic pieces celebrating the core themes of opera.

“One of the UK’s most enterprising small opera companies, New Sussex Opera constantly surprises with its ambition and the quality of its fully staged productions.” Opera Now September 2018
